Effective today, STI testing (swabs and urine samples for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and HSV) is back!
This change will apply to HSHC, family doctors, walk-in clinics, and the STI Clinic at the VG. There has been no change to the status of STBBI (HIV, Hep B, Hep C, syphilis) tests or Pap testing, which were not suspended. This return to STI testing is dependent on the status of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia, so it may be impacted again in the future.
STI testing still looks different than it did before the pandemic. At HSHC, STI testing is by appointment only. Testing appointments are being booked as telephone visits. If the doctor thinks that you should be tested, you will then have a quick follow-up in-person visit with our nurse to provide a sample.
This change will most likely impact the demand on HSHC. Please bare with us as we work through the unprecedented demand for our services. If possible, please consider using your family doctor, a walk-in clinic, university clinic, or the VG STI Clinic for your testing services. ...
