Young Readers Book Club

HSHC is hosting a Book Club! The HSHC Young Readers Book Club will introduce participants to gender and sexuality through bestselling story books that are 2SLGBTQIA+ focused. Facilitator-lead discussions at Book Club will encourage safe and open dialogue among children peer-to-peer and between children and caregivers. The books will be geared for ages 4 – 8.

Each child will receive FREE hard copies of the story books we will be reading, shipped directly to their residence.  You are welcome to sign up for as many or as few sessions/books as you wish. Our young readers are welcome to explore the books before the Zoom Book Club sessions, and they get to keep them! The books will come with some sample discussion questions that caregivers are welcome to explore with their kiddos before, during, or after the Zoom Book Club sessions. Book Club sessions will be approximately 30 minutes. While attending the Book Club sessions is highly encouraged, they are not mandatory to attend, even if you have received the books.

Check out https://forms.gle/EaAfyhQ7nTB3qh9S9 to register! Please note we have limited spots for each book. If you have any questions or have any problems with registration, please email abbey@hshc.ca.

This project was made possible thanks to the NS Community Services Sexualized Violence Prevention grant.
